Introduction:

Adapted from the work How I Learned to Drive by contemporary American playwright Paula Vogel, the story follows Li’l Bit, a young woman who, due to her prominent feminine characteristics, faces more jealousy from her female peers and harassment from men than the average girl. During her adolescence, an older male figure, Uncle Peck, enters her life, and her unusual coming-of-age story becomes a secret blend of love, familial affection, and sexuality. The play unfolds in a non-linear fashion, beginning with the narration of 35-year-old Li’l Bit. Spanning nearly thirty years, the character’s journey is portrayed through multiple flashbacks and monologues, revealing Li’l Bit's complex relationship with her memories and traumas.
