Professional Development
In university-assisted after-school media programs based in a public high school in West Philadelphia, mentors with uneven teaching experience work in informal learning environments marked by high turnover, limited continuity, and insufficient professional development in media education. The LensBright Hub is a blended professional development platform that combines year-long hybrid workshop design with a shared, website-based archive to support mentor learning, instructional continuity, and sustainable program growth.
In response to challenges identified in both the literature and local practice, we articulate seven design principles that guide the design and enactment of the LensBright Hub PD model. As a publicly accessible platform, LensBright Hub is intended to serve as a blueprint and resource for future media education initiatives and professional development programs.
